Lessons Centered Horse Riding ( See module 9 )

Centered Riding founder, Sally Swift, developed the principals of Centered Riding (Breathing, Soft Eyes, Centering, Building Blocks, and Grounding), using functional anatomy, imagery, horse and rider biomechanics, and elements from the martial arts as tools to improve the balance and effectiveness of the rider. Some would say she was ahead of her time.

Centered Riding® is an innovative way of learning and teaching classical principles of riding, using body awareness, centering, and imagery. Centered Riding is not a separate seat or discipline, but encompasses all seats and styles of riding.  It teaches a language that allows clearer communication between horse, rider, and instructor. Centered Riding was developed by Sally Swift, author of the best-selling book and videotapes, and is now taught by Centered Riding Instructors around the world.

Centered Riding is based on a knowledge of human and horse anatomy, balance, movement, and on understanding how the mind affects the body and how both affect the horse. It uses centering and grounding techniques from the oriental martial arts, along with body awareness, mental imagery and sports psychology. Through increasing body awareness, inhibiting old patterns, and replacing them with a more balanced, free, and coordinated use of self, both horse and rider can move more freely and comfortably, and develop their best performance.

What Can Centered Riding do for you?
Centered Riding teaches you how to help your body do what you need to do in order to ride well. Centered Riding techniques help promote suppleness, stability, and clearer aids, making riding more comfortable for both horse and rider. As you learn and experience the principles
through your horse's motion and responses, you and your horse tune in to each other and work together in harmony.

These techniques can increase confidence and enjoyment and release tension in horses and riders, making training easier.

They also help people cope with old injuries or chronic conditions that cause pain during or after riding.

Centered Riding is used successfully by riders and instructors of all ages, interests, and levels, from pleasure riders to international competitors, and in therapeutic riding. It can be applied to any type of horse or horsemanship.

Most of all, it makes riding more enjoyable for horses and riders.

Lessons Barefoot Hoofcare (See module 8)

Horses are born with magnificent life-structured hoofs.
Thus, apart from their main-hart, they have 4 other blood pumping harts at the end of their legs.
The coöperation between these 5 bumping structures is indispensable to keep themselves alive.
Our domesticated horses and ponies are genetically the same as their families in the wild.
The huge difference is the way of living we offer our domesticated horses or we force them into.
We have to take care of our horses' emotional, mental and physical aspects.
Having knowledge about the whole ( Holistic) animal is way more important than just sitting on their back.

So, back to the hoofs, learning about the internal hoofstructure, the hoofposition, the length, the width, the importance of the frog touching the floor, the heels and so much more will give you a lot of understanding about their four Hoof-Harts touching the ground 24 hours a day.

 You will be able to:

 * Maintain the hoofs of your horse or pony in between the visits of a profesional barefoot trimmer or Equine podologist.
 * Check the hoofposition referring to the legs, spine and movement.

 * Use different Barefoot trimtools for the "in between" maintenance.

 * Use the underground floor for a personalized ( horsalized) natural trim while walking and/or riding.

 * Be aware of the importance of nutrition and movement in liberty referring to healthy hoofs.
 * Maintain the hoofs by yourself with your obtained knowledge and practice when your horse is happy and healthy with balanced hoofs.

Lessons Equine ethology (See module 10)

Observing horse behaviour is really wonderful.
Of course it's really different to observe a wild ( semi-wild) herd or domesticated horses.
However the instincts of pray animals are very deeply grounded in there genes.

It's highly recommendable to spend time in observing and learning about there way of living, communication, emotions, behaviour,

social skills and needs! It will give you and your horse a great mutual value referring to your relationship and training!

Possibilities for groups and individuals with or without your own horse.

Lessons Horse-Training dynamics (See module 3 - 4 - 5 - 6)

For me there is one truth!!! , the unique dynamic between horse and human is the only good creator of a natural and constructive way of training. An invisible line of personality, characteristics, feelings, mood and energy that connects an individual person with an individual horse. So, it's thís line... This unique dynamic between human and horse that determines which way of training is effective  and gives pleasure to both

What is your intrinsic motivation of training your horse?
Is it just a goal to reach or beautifully the whole entire way?
Which methods suits you and which way suits your horse?

Isn't it difficult to follow a specific  training-method and in the meantime paying valuable attention to the Invisible Line? The Unique Dynamic ?

In my opinion the method is quite irrelevant to the dynamic between both horse and human.

Using all our senses and develop them even more, we will get back the reflection of our sensitive horse. This reflection is just the horse's nature. Horses are genius in using their senses!! By using our senses in combination with patience, knowledge of equine ethology,
classical and operant conditioning ( a way of learning) love and body language we will be able to create the best individual based training method for both! The better we know our selves and our horse the more visible will get the " invisible line" !
Clarity is an important horse-need!! Based on all this i help you in groundwork and riding.
